You have missed some facts about Tippu Sultan. He was not secular like Akbar.
Recall Mysore invasion of Malabar. Tippu almost plundered Malabar(part of Kerala), destroyed the culture of Malabar forcibly converted people to Islam.
He was in fact a French ally. His dream was to capture Travancore which he could not achieve.
